Why Scandinavia?

Posted on: 21/05/2014

D Health has received high levels of interest in the Scandinavian launch of the Catalyst. One of the most common questions asked has been “Why Sweden and why Scandinavia for the first launch in mainland Europe?”

Jeremy Cummin (Executive Chairman of D Health): “The tremendously collaborative culture is well known and has been particularly evident in our dealings in Sweden. This is ideal for the Catalyst which is by nature, an open innovation model where members join to work in new and collaborative ways”.

Steve Dodsworth (CEO, D Health). “We recognise a valuable legacy from the mobile industry in particular regions in Scandinavia and this, combined with an active and collaborative mix of companies, academic institutions and state funded service providers with long standing interests in digital health, makes for a fantastic melting pot. There are also some very obvious similarities in the challenges in delivering healthcare across the challenging geography of the Scandinavian countries; something we recognise from our roots in Scotland and particularly from the digital health cluster emerging in the Highlands”

Jeremy Cummin: “During the judging process in the EU E-health SME competition, it became very obvious that there are high levels of innovation in the Scandinavian business base. We have also become aware of the long standing expertise in digital health within the state funded service providers. As such, we felt that a Scandinavian launch should be the natural, next step for the Catalyst but already we are looking to launch in other European territories later this year.”

D Health looks forward to what promises to be an excellent meeting at Digital Health 14 in Stockholm.
